What actually matters

Six things separate a head shaver you'll reach for every morning from one that ends up in a drawer. None of them is the number on the box.

Rotary or foil
Most shavers made for bald heads are rotary, with several round heads that tilt to follow the dome and handle hair growing in different directions at the crown. Foil shavers cut in straight lines and are precise on edges.
Heads that move
Head count matters less than whether the heads float or flex independently. Heads that tilt keep in contact with the curve, which means fewer passes and less pressure on your skin.
Wet or dry
Shaving with gel adds glide, and dermatologists advise men prone to razor bumps to use shaving cream even with an electric razor. For that you need a shaver built for water: look for a rating such as IPX7.
Battery and charging
A full head shave takes a few minutes, so 60 to 90 minutes of runtime covers many shaves. USB-C or a dock is easier day to day than a proprietary plug, especially when you travel.
Blade cost and lifespan
Blades wear out, and a dull blade drags and irritates. Compare the replacement price with the life each brand states. This is where the long-term cost sits, not in the shaver price.
Warranty and returns
A head is a different shape from a face, and it takes a few shaves to judge a shaver. A fair return window gives you time to find out; a long warranty protects you after that.

Foil vs rotary, at a glance

Both cut cleanly. The difference is how the blades move, and so how you move the shaver over a curved head.

Foil shaver

How it cuts
Blades move side to side under a thin perforated foil
How you shave
Short, straight passes
Best at
Edges, lines and flatter areas
On a bald head
More passes around the crown and the back

Rotary shaver

How it cuts
Cutters spin under round, slotted guards
How you shave
Small, slow circles
Best at
Curves and hair that grows in different directions
On a bald head
Multi-head models tilt to follow the shape of your skull

The real cost

A shaver is a one-off purchase; blades are not. Brands state blade life in different ways (weeks, months or number of shaves), so the fairest comparison is your own: how many blades you'll use in a year, times the price you'll pay for each.

Blades a year=52 ÷ weeks per blade
Yearly cost=Blades × price

For example, if you shave often enough to replace a VEROSHAVE 7D blade every 6 weeks on Auto-Refill, that's about 8 or 9 blades a year at $19.95, or roughly $170 to $180. Run the same sum with each brand's blade life and price, and with how often you actually shave: someone shaving twice a week uses far fewer blades than someone shaving daily.

Choosing by your needs

If you… Prioritize
Are shaving your head for the first time A multi-head rotary shaver, a clipper for the first trim, and a fair return window. The Starter Kit includes a trimmer attachment for the first trim.
Have coarse or curly hair, or get razor bumps A wet/dry shaver so you can use gel, and fresh blades on schedule. The AAD notes an electric razor is often recommended for bump-prone skin.
Shave every day Blade price and lifespan first, then battery life and how quickly the heads rinse clean. A blade subscription usually works out cheapest.
Travel a lot USB-C charging and a case or pouch, so you're not carrying an extra adapter.
Keep a beard A trimmer attachment and guide combs in the box, or budget for a separate trimmer.
Want crisp edges above all A foil shaver or a dedicated trimmer for the edges, alongside or instead of a rotary shaver.

Buying it as a gift

If you're choosing for someone else, you can't test it on their head, so make it easy to get started and easy to keep going.

  • Everything in one box. A kit with the shaver, spare blades and a trimmer means nothing else to buy.
  • Blades sorted. A refill plan they can skip, pause or cancel means they won't be caught with a dull blade.
  • Charging made easy. USB-C or a dock, with no special plug to lose.

The VEROSHAVE Starter Kit covers all three: the 7D, two genuine blades, a trimmer attachment and Auto-Refill. If it isn't right, it can be returned within 60 days.

Where the 7D fits, and where it doesn't

A good fit if you want

  • A rotary shaver with 7 floating heads for the whole scalp
  • Wet or dry shaving, IPX7 waterproof
  • USB-C or wireless dock charging, both included
  • A trimmer, guide combs and a nose and ear trimmer in the box

Look elsewhere if you want
